My car has the 2.2L to 2.5L conversion. It was done by Stoddard several years ago for the PO. Stoddard used 90mm Carrera RS pistons and 1966 901 camshafts. BA recommends either 911T or E cams - the E cams give more peak HP and the T has a broader torque range. I suspect mine are more like the E. The heads will need some machine work performed. My compression ratio is 8.1 to 1 (although BA claims that you can only get about 7.5:1 with this conversion?). Stoddard also installed an S distributor (34 deg BTDC at 6000RPM) and Weber 40IDA's (emulsion tubes F26, venturies 34 mm, Air correction 180, main jets 140, idle jets 55).
The PO said the conversion totally transformed the car. The car pulls nicely from 3000RPM but really lights up at around 4500RPM. I was told the redline is 7500, but I probably won't attempt to verify that - I have had it up 7200 with no problems. The car is very quick. ------------------ 1971 911T - 2.5L Big Bore [This message has been edited by cegerer (edited 05-28-2001).] |
