Fabspeed or Dansk bypass

any advice out there? I want to replace my cat with a cat bypass, should I get the Fabspeed or the Dansk bypass?

Go with Bursch CBP, it is cheap and you can go back to OEM if you don't like the back fire or need to smog.

My 2 cents

If you want the cheapest, I think the Schnell ones were sub-$100 at some point, that's in the dregs of my memory anyway.

The fabspeed I think is nice because it acts a little like a resonator, and it's eye-candy when polished up. The welds on mine were nice, O2 bung, etc. I got their copper gaskets also. I swap it out for the smog test and with the coppers, I don't have to buy new gaskets every time.

Only thing on the coppers, the hole pattern was slightly off, and I opened up one of the holes a little to make it work.

First I was going to gut my spare cat, then get the Dansk, then the fabspeed, the bursch looks good too, I can't decide. What about power increase/decrease with loss of backpressure.

The cbp is just a straight pipe but will save a few pounds, reduce the engine compartment temp and pop a little on deceleration. AFAIK, the Fabspeed is a pre-muffler which is a little more complex in construction and may or may not add a few HP, but is pretty polished stainless and costs 2-3x more. I went with the cbp.

How much does a pre-muffler muffle or decrease sound, compared to bypass?
How's a premuffler constructed?--kinda like a glasspak?

I saw no discernable difference on the dyno just replacing the cat with the premuffler, without making other changes that could take advantage of the more open exhaust.

Fabspeed's unit is a highly perforated tube down the center larger chamber, IIRC. It is open straight through the center with no obstructions.

I replaced my OEM muffler with a Dansk Sport 84mm muffler and noticed a slight power decrease, once I leaned the system out I regained my power lose, thats why I'm concerned with backpressure and the right choice of a bypass. Once thats done I'll install a SW chip.

Is the Dansk premuffler available anymore? Pelican parts shows it as not. How much is it(was it) compared to the Fabspeed at $285 If it is available, where can i get it?

Lastly, I have a wideband O2 sensor setup right now welded in next to my factory o2. Is it possible to weld in another bung on this Danks or Fabspeed?

The Dansk pre-muff is available @ performance products, I just ordered one. I would have ordered one from our host, but unavalable. Ive been researching which cat-bypass to install and I chose the Dansk because it is baffled. More backpressure, plus the O2 sensor bung is after the left/right heat-exchanger crossover instead of just the left HE side. I don't know if O2 sensor reading of one side (bank) or both makes a differance, but that should give DME a better reading to adjust mixture.

we will have M&K units ready next week and our host should be able to sell them right away. They will be competivly priced with the others and of course stainless and TIG welded

no pics yet and as for spec what exactly are you looking for? It will be the lightest on the market and all 321 stainless..

So no one has replied to a preference for the Dansk. Anyone? I have a stock muffler and my cat is rusted out, thought i would do a Dansk pre muffler to keep some sound attenuation, but the fabspeed is much cheaper. Does it have any attenuation at all?

I've done some searching on previous posts and what I have concluded is that
the Dansk pre-muffler mated with a sport exhaust gives close to the same Hp as
a SSI system minus the cost and modification problem to include the heater system. I've had a Dansk sport exhaust on my 3.2 for about 4 yrs. now and the quality is above std. Thats why I orders the Dansk pre-muff, sould get it next week or so. I'll let you know how it turns out.
