				 |  Advice on initial start-up driveability, and turbo lag.. 
			I just bought my first 930, an '82 ROW.  Upon initial startup it is quite cold blooded for about a min. or so, then seem to shake it off and run fine.  It doesn't want to rev., backfires, ect.  if you get the rpm's up it will drive thru it and after a mile or so will be fine.  Obviously its running lean on start-up, do I need to look at the WUR?  I have seen the thread on tapping it w/ a screw to adj it.   What should fuel pressure be upon start-up, and after its warm at say, 2500rpm?  I have a fuel pressure gauge to test it with...    Is there a book, or manual of some sorts that explains CIS that isn't an arm and a leg? Also, this is my first turbo motor, and is a whole new experience.... I can now see why people get so excited about how they can run under boost. The motor is stock as far as mods go, other than a 1.0 spring has been put in, and the clock has been replaced with a boost gauge that reads to 2.0. I hit 1.1 yesterday in second gear at about 105mph, then I let off, as there was too much traffic to sustain, and getting to know the car, ect. My question is turbo lag, which is VERY evident. Is there a newer better turbo that comes on boost sooner, and will stay on boost better between gears? Right now the car is plenty fast enough once it comes on for me, but would like to not have to push it so hard to get it up on boost. Finding a good used turbo from someone who is upgrading would be fine as well if there is such a thing. Thanks in advance for all your help. Craig | ||

			I'd swap out the r&p with a lower geared one first. A great mod for these cars.

			What ratio did you go to?  Where do you find the gears?

			I'd like to make a couple of suggestions.  First, get the car to a mechanic to fix the cold-running problem.  While he's at it, have him look it over thoroughly.  There will be other issues and you don't want to screw around and possibly hurt the car. Second, a stock ROW 930 won't run on 91 octane gas and a car that runs higher boost (and with no other modifications) likely won't run on 93 octane gas, at least in the summer. I don't know what gas you can get where you live but I would tread very carefully here. Many people have hurt these motors from detonation, faster than you can say "oh, sh**." I'd pull the 1.0 bar boost spring out and put a stock one in. Get to know the car first and try and enjoy it the way it is. There are ways to drive these cars that minimize the lag and you'll learn them as you get some miles under your belt. Lastly, I don't know how you hit 105 in second, as that is way past the redline in that gear. I'd suggest not running the engine that high, as you are well past the horsepower peak with a stock engine. JR | ||
