Mercedes Benz Board?
I'm looking to get a mid 90's Benz as a summer driver [versus spending a wad on my 89 3.2] to get working AC. Probably a 94 or 95 E320. They seem to be a real value for the money.
Is there a board similar to this for Benz owners? thx todd 89 targa |

I like benz world - I just bought my first ever benz... a 1981 Unimog 406. It is everything that the 911 is not... well except for loud.

Benzworld is okay; I like mbworld.org a little bit more though - less attitude there.

Todd:
The friendliest and most knowledgable Mercedes-Benz list is www.mercedeslist.com, run by Stu Ritter and Hank Van Cleef. Your choice of a '94 or '95 E-Class is a good one. These cars are bargains today. I've had two 1988-95 E-Class wagons, put over 200,000 miles on them, and I love 'em. Frank (former editor/publisher, The Star, Mercedes-Benz Club of America) |

I would love to have one those E-class benzes. I dig the older style more than the late 90s models. Very solid cars. I remember driving my Uncle's '89 300D when it had 250K on it and the thing was still solid.

Registeres on Benzworld and MBWorld. They look like good resources. Same BBS software as here. The 94-95 E series cars seem to be readily available for about $4,000. I like the looks of that 2 year run a little better than the late 90's also.
Seems they have their common issues; namely engine wiring harness [$1,000 item], head gasket, valve cover gasket, AC vac servos. Those are the basic things to look for so far as I can see right off the bat. Apparently MB used a biodegradeable harness cover/sheathing plastic material that - by now - is brittle and when other things are worked on and - and as the harness is moved about - cracks and internal wiring shorts occur. A few on craigslist in Phoenix I may go look at. I have a clue now what to ask about/check into. Got to love these boards . . . Looking forward to AC todd 89 Targa |
