Got problem need a quick answer
Hi, I want to fit a pair off SSI Heat exchangers and found a pair with oil-lines with only 30 minutes on them for a good price.
In the description it says will fit 3.2. I have a 1985 3.2 911. I have already found out from mailing the guy they dont have O2 Sensor socket. His response, weld one on. My question will these fit my 1985? Part No. SSI 143 4182, SSI 148 4940. I need to know ASAP. |

Yes they will fit. You can get the bung at most auto parts stores. Need to drill a hole and get it welded on, but that is not a big deal.
I see you are in Amsterdam. I thought the ROW 3.2 engines didn't use the O2 sensor, but I could be wrong.

You can weld on the bong or get a SW chip that dose not require an O2.

I understand the differences between the early SSI which, have a thinner Flange and none protruding Header tube and later from 1984-89 have a thicker flange and protruding tube. Apart from that I understand they are the same. The early will fit the later but later will need modification-Phew!!! I need a beer ![]() |

Lots of guys unplug the O2 sensor. You might not even need it.

After speaking to Porsche Amsterdam and the UK, who said after I had given my chassis number that I did have a O2 Sensor. I then finally looking underneath my car-their is no O2 Sensor. So, Javadog you are Right!

Just to be sure, make sure you have a 930/20 engine. The engine number will be stamped in the right hand side of the case, to the right and towards the bottom of the cooling fan. It's a little hard to find, so grab a flashlight and start looking. If you have a 930/20, there was never an O2 sensor. If it is another engine type, you may have had a sensor and a previous owner may have removed it.
Only one way to know for sure. JR |
