spark plug help needed

Hello, I have an '82 SC and recently swapped out spark plugs. I pulled out Bosch Platinum (or maybe copper, not sure), and replaced with NGK iridium ones. Replaced the wires as well.

My car doesn't seem to accelerate as well now; seems like it is missing that good power surge in 2nd gear. Can plugs make a difference in performance like this?
What is the recommended plug?

thanks in advance,

Bill

What brand/type of wires and connectors did you put on? I am asking because it's quite possible you don't have some of the plug connectors firmly on the plug, especially if they are not Beru connectors which have a definite "snap" when they are seated correctly. I recently replaced my plug wires and had the same syptoms as you describe and found that two of the connectors--though firmly in the plug hole--were not on the plug. Repositioning the connectors restored all power. It's worth a double check.

What LJ said. Simply take each wire off the plug and reconnect it and make sure you have a nice firm snap to connect it. Also, double check to make sure you didn't cross up the firing order of the plug wires at the dizzy.
Side note: "a chain is only as strong as the weakest link" Or in other words, you would be wise to replace the cap and rotor when doing plugs and wires since it all starts at the dizzy (both can be conveniently ordered from our host by clicking the link at the top of the page).

Good point on connection issues re: Beru.
You want to hear/feel the snap.

Does Bosch or another good manufacturer make copper plugs that have dual electrodes like the Bosch +2 (and +4) that do not shroud the ignition flame but have the good conductivity and heat range of Copper?
