Wheel question: 7x16's on all 4 corners
My search capabilities still suck. I know I have seen a thread on here where someone was running or asking about running 7x16 Fuchs on all 4 corners, but I cannot find it now.
Is there any negative effect to doing this, performance wise on a 911? My car is an 83 that is pretty much a daily driver... well at least an every other daily driver. I can't imagine that Porsche staggered the setup for no reason; just trying to figure out how much benefit the staggered setup adds. I just hate the look of the 6's up front and have not found a set of 8's or 9's yet that I can spend the money on. 7's seem to be hitting a bit of a slump here recently $-wise. Does anyone have pics of SC or RS flared cars with 7x16's all the way around? Thanks in advance...

There was a guy running 6 x 16's in the for sale post, that looked funky, dont see anything wrong with running 7's all around.

The staggered wheel and tire setup is there to reduce or eliminate the high speed oversteer that a 911 can exhibit due to it's rear weight bias.
Some run a non staggered setup ffor a specific purpose, usually to reduce or eliminate low speed under steer at A/X. Can you for a dd? Sure but you are changing the handling characteristics. Be sure that the change is a desireable one.

If I am remembering correctly, 205 rubber will fit a 7" wheel. If I AM remembering right, could you get enough of the stagger from the tires themselves. I think I know that the 7" will widen out the 205 tire more than if it were on a 6" wheel, but is it enough to be much of a factor.
Sorry if these are stupid questions. Suspension and handling stuff has always been a bit of a mystery to me...

I posted the FS of 4 6x16 polished Fuchs.
"that looked funky".. the wheels are in great condition. I'm the one that's funky. I've been running 4 951 7x16 Fuchs w/205x55x16 Bridgestone 050A PolePosition on a narrow body.

I posted a few times I'm running 7" all around...but with 205 profile tires in front and 225 in back. Works really well. The resulting wider front track and slight alteration of spring/wheel rate ( now a bit softer), makes for a less understeering vehicle ( at least in my mind) in slow speed corners. Feels great in high speed sweepers, too.
I was trepidatious, but have since added 21mm rear spacers.... as this would have a tendency to "get me back" to where I was before...but that seems to feel real good too... no issues. Car is mostly stock 85 Carrera...

Thanks Wil, that is what I was looking for. I meant 205 instead of 215 in my earlier post.
any pics?
