How many miles with no engine work?

I'll start. 170,000 and running strong. Oil consumption - yes but oil is cheap. About 1/2 qt per tank.

Just brought home my first Porsche, 88 911 coupe, 148K miles, no work. PO says oil consumption is "negligible" - just needs "normal topping up." Actually I know of a couple of spots from the PPI that I need to keep an eye on.I'll have to get back to you about how that actually plays out for me. FINGERS CROSSED!

considering everything done to mine was precautionary upgrades ( tensioners, valve covers, etc) and not failures. 182,000. about 1 quart every 1000 or so.

My 1985 just turned 193K w/o engine opened. <915 tranny is another story...>

Oil consumption appears to be 550miles/qt in summer w/20W50 and 630miles/qt in winter w/10W40.

110k when purchased(im 2nd owner). 121k now. total everything replaced w/partial engine drop. ie. valve adj. plugs rotor cap hoses, new exhaust/headers blah blah. everything else on car replaced/upgraded/new. and I MEAN EVERYTHING! showroom stock so not a hell of alot of crazy crap installed.

when installing headers did leak down and #4 cylinder. its leaking down 19%. wrench stated i have 25k more miles til it becomes mo-squito killer from hell.

smokes on start up right side and then its gone. eats a 1/2 quart per 3000 miles. be it castrol or brad penn. penn in it now.

decided that blowing the damn thing up at the track would lead to added expense if not getting someone else killed dumping 17 qts of penn on track.

sooo we have decided to drift off towards other dragons to slay, drive the car on nice days and milk out 25k more miles all the while saving for a creme de creme 3.2 showroom stock PATRICK MOTORSPORTS rebuild from crank up, maybe a 3.2 euro, but more leaning towards a 3.4 JEREMYD 287hp(dynoed)monster motor and taking it to the track for some shakedown runs and then walk away from it and just drive it when the weathers nice. have seen too many nice cars at time trials get wasted and turned into beer cans for my liking and wrecking cars is something i have done in the past and didnt enjoy it very much then or now. $$$$$
