Need more air flow out of your A/C this summer?

Now that the dog days are here, thought I'd repost my supplemental air flow solution from last summer before I replaced my A/C system. $12 oscillating fan from Advance Auto. Moves lots of air for little $$$

Sandwich boards to clip fan onto cupholder

CUP HOLDER?? Do I have one of those in my 88 911? Or is that an add-on? I've seen add-ons that look similar to the one in your photo.

I may well try your fan idea this summer!

One odd thing I've noticed is that while my air blows pretty strong, the angle of the vents is all wrong, no matter how I adjust them. For example, the left vent in the dash, if I push it as far toward the inside of the car as possible, I still get air basically going to my armpit or elbow. I have to do a "gansta lean" to the left to get any air to my face. Same deal on the other side, the right side vent, when adjusted all the way in, basically blows the air at my right arm and no further toward me. I can assure you it's not a problem of ME not being wide enough

It's annoying, but I've yet to go digging around with the vents to see if there is any way of adjusting them beyond what they are doing now. I have considered some type of make-shift add-on to direct the air a little better but have yet to come up with any kind of workable idea. I wonder if anybody's monkeyed around with the vents to make them more useful in terms of aiming the air? Or are there any other vents out there that might do better, I wonder?

Mark, I bet you don't miss that fan.

Kathy, check out these vents. My 85 Carrera came with those tiny vertical vents on the side that are almost useless. I have the vent kit from Griffith's and they are a major improvement.

I am still obsessing over the CUP HOLDER

It's an add-on, right? The one place I saw one like that said it was no longer available (might even have been this site!).

My 88 has vents more like Mark's - the 2 center ones, and one off to each side, about 2X3" dimension, with very little flexibility for aiming the air. I don't think the other vent solution suggested would work in my 88.

Kathy if you haven't yet, you may want to remove the bowtie. It's a plastic deflector over a vent that is up under your dash just behind the console. Griffith's makes an add on vent that will give you the ability to direct the air. Or some folks have built their own. I bought mine. Ken

So is that why she wants to sell the cab? I hear she is quite the monster with the "new" car. Can't wait to see y'all in November! (Diane might have her new 911 by then)!

What is this AC you speak of? We have a pretty good dehumidifier, but that's about it. We had a PCA run out into Texas this last weekend, and of course I had to drive "her" car which has the "non-modded dehumidifier". Oh well, a nice puffy short-sleeved shirt and the arm on the windowsill worked pretty well!

Picked up a new fan that I found at the Flying J truck stop to use as a supplemental support for a fully heat soaked car in the summer. Really helps until the A/C catches up. This fan is draws 4 full watts vs the 0.6 watts on oscillating fan an has a variable speed control. It's loud but so is the interior cabin of the 911 and it moves a TON of air.

Its also available at Amazon. Positive reviews posted by truckers and postal carriers.
