fuchs replicas

Can anyone recommend a good set of fuchs replicas? I'm looking for a set of 16x8's for the rear, but would rather not shell out $450 plus each for real ones.

I've seen the repros available at TireRack and Performance Products, but they just don't look quite right. Am I wrong?

Also, wondering if 16x8's will just bolt up on a 1983 SC without any issues or use of spacers.

Thanks,

Rob

when 8x16 was oem they had ET10.6, 9x16 had ET15, either will fit the rear of an SC/Carrera flared car w/o any issues whatso ever.

As the ET # goes down the wheel sticks outboard further, as it goes up it projects inboard further, as the width goes up it projects both ways equally unless there is a change in ET

something I have always wanted to see: Does anyone have a picture of a replica 16x8 or 9 lying next to a real 16x8 or 9?

These are 17" replicas made by Rota and sold right here at Pelican Parts. 7.5" X 17" in front and 9"X 17" in back. No spacers on this '83 SC. Perfect fitment.

geez that looks nice! Might make more sense just to go to 17s as these are fairly priced.

the 17's do look awesome, but that would necessitate new rubber, etc....

options, options...

Thanks to everyone for the info.

Better tire availability with 17's, too.

17 9js

How do they fit with a turbo look rear end like mine?

What kind of spacers do you need to make them flush with the fender (or darn close)
One guy I spoke to about wheels warned me not to use the 17" replicas since they are 'cast' not 'forged' but I believe he has bias, since he'd like to sell me what he 'has' not what I want.

Euro height, more or less. No rubbing issues at all. 17's make the car look lower than it is.

Jeff Alton is now taking orders for his forged 17's. I think they are about $2400... no offense to Rota at all...

The Rota's shown are $1,200 here at Pelican Parts. I've followed Jeff Alton's thread and I'm sure he's going to be producing an outstanding product. Nice for owners of 25 year old 911's to finally have some options!

Sorry Moses - and Pelican... I guess I was going off the price I saw them for somewhere on eBay recently. i was kind of amazed they had gone up so much. Very nice to see they are still at the $1200 mark. One thing about Jeff's though is that he IS offering turbo sizes and offsets I believe.

I know a few people were testing the Rota's out on the track. Are they still holding up well? I do not remember seeing anything about any failures yet.

I don't really like the look of the Lindsey's. The barrel looks too "busy". I think Jeff's turbo wheels should be a big improvement.

I've been thrashing mine. Hit a berm pretty hard at Laguna Seca. No issues.

I just put a set of 9"s (Euromeister Replicas) on the back of my '85 with original 7"s in front. I've eyeballed them really hard and noticed a slight difference in the "gleam" coming off the aluminum portion of the wheel. Not noticeable to anyone but a Pelican for the most part.
I am thrilled with the difference in overall appearance my car has a whole new persona I can only describe as "yolked". Plus the obvious advantage of having two more inches of rubber on each rear tire.

got any pics you can post as this is what I wanted to do. I actually wanted to polish the outer lip...so it might not even look different at all?

You bet Terry,

I'll take some this weekend when I get her out in the sun. I'd love to know your polishing results, small price to pay a couple of pics. I just bought them and put them on last week so they're brand new.

More later,

Scott

Thanks guys for the plugs. The Rota's that Moses worked on are hard to beat at the price.

We developed a product for our racing clients already ordering our 3 piece wheels that allows them to have a fuchs center.

The Rota's look great and are good value for sure.

Our offering will be available in 18 inch including offsets for late model 996/997 and Boxsters/Caymans. We are also producing 15 inch wheels in 9 and 11 (or wider) that will relplicate accurately the RSR fuchs of the day.

Cheers

When looking at the rotas vs. the original, the only obvious give-away is the sharpness of the rim lines. If they were polished and softened I think they would be nearly indistinguishable from the originals.

Does anyone currently sell (off the shelf) 11js?

Id like to run 9js in the front, 11js in the rear.

Can I buy those anywhere today?
