Looking for previous owner, help!

I have had this car for 2 years. I would like to know more about its history. It was bought new in California and brought to Frorida in the 80's. This is the data on the car:

1971 911T Coupe Karmann body
VIN: 9111120638
Engine number: 6114764
Color 2323=bloodorange
delivered 011070 to San Francisco
Interior 11=leatherette black,middle of seats leatherette basketweave

This is a picture after I removed the FG S-bumper, I installed the under bumper fogs and the special horn grills for driving ligts(not installed yet). The rest of the pictures are from things that came with the car.









If someone can copy this add at the PCA site I would appreciate that. Is there any official record of cars prior to 1981 that I can search in California?

BTW I bought it from a broker and got a title, but no history. I think I have found the last owner from the title on www.reunion.com but I do not have an account and when I tried to open one I just got an error message, probably because I have a non US address and phone number.

If you Google "VIN background search" you will come up with several pay sites where you can enter the VIN and any other known information and get all sorts of records.

I was fortunate enough to be handed three files bulging with 20 yrs of records on my car. I sat down and went thru them - guy I got the car from thought he was owner #2. Turns out he was #4! He was shocked and asked me how I found all this out - it was in the info he gave me, he just never dug thru it.

I've actually shot emails to a couple of the POs I was able to find thru Google and it's been a kick to update them on their old car and find out more about them.

With names on titles, etc. you can use (pay) services such as KnowX.com or 1800USSearch.com to get lists of names, addresses, phone #s to help you narrow your search. You'd be surprised what you can find just typing a name into Google, or a directory service such as whitepages.com or switchboard.com. Google and online directories can often fill in the blanks. (no affiliation, not promoting any sites I've mentioned).

Thanks for all the great advice.

A lot of them I have not tried, although google and the free search engines do not come up with any clues, but If I get hold of the last owner I might be able to find out more through google etc. I know that a lot of the pay services do not have records prior to 1981.

I will try the KnowX.com or 1800USSearch.com and whitepages.com or switchboard.comservices! I only have the one name to go by...

I can't find anything current on Valley Oak PCA (on the plaque) but it might have folded into the Sacramento Valley Region PCA - I did find mention of it in a "way back" article on their site, www.derporsche.net is the Sacto site, they are in PCA region 7, check contacts with either of those organizations and they may be able to help you. I have found all the PCAs I have contacted for info (when I was car shopping & looking for mechanic references) to be unfailingly helpful.

I had a '73 911S that I bought last year...when I was cleaning it out, I found a handwritten receipt underneith the seat, from 1973. I googled the name on the receipt, and sure enough, found the phone number of the guy. I was able to talk to him about the car....pretty awesome stuff. I found out that he bought the car in '73, and then liked the body style (short hood) of the '74 models, so he traded his '73 911S in for a '74 911S.

Not to jump off topic, but Pelican should considering starting something like a "PO" forum. Being able to search VINs and the like through the site might not seem like much now, but after ten years of collecting the information from current owners and possibly previous Pelicans it would become quite a resource.
