Yes, another fuchs' identification thread

OK, I know that my rims are true foxy 6x16 and 7x16, with proper backspacing and everything. What I want to know is if there was an identification on the rims to to what the finish was? I found a number "4682" and then either a "00" or "99" or "gg" slightly offset down and to the right. Otherwise, nothing beyond the part number and date code.

Is there a way to tell if these are full factory polished vs. chromed? They don't look as bright and shiny as the chromed ones I've seen for sale on here, but I wasn't sure if the polished vs chromed look similar after 30 years.

I'm willing to bet Porsche never offered fuchs in either chromed OR fully polished.

There are a few variations of painted and anodized finishes between '67 and '89 but the chrome and polished finishes were done by someone other than the factory.

By "full polished" I meant the unpainted, anodized, fully "aluminum" looking rims. However, thank, I didn't know they didn't do chrome. I thought that many of these chrome rims were factory.

I think that's an nono on the chromo.
No chrome factory finish that I know of or ever heard of. Same for the polished finish.

How those finishes hold up after 30 years?? Depends on the maintenance probably. Guess the polished one will need a lot of maintenance if no clearcoat was used. I don't know what chrome will look like after such a period.

Apart from some of the race wheels, there were only variations in how much of the wheel got painted. As others have said, there was no polishing or chroming from the factory.
