need any ER Tape?

It's fantastic stuff, and I found out about it on a previous post, somebody fixing an oil leak on a 911. Go to www.ertape.com and read about it--a silicone self-adhering tape that cures strong enough to patch plumbing and the like.

Anyway, it sounded so good to me that I wanted some, but the only way they sell it is by the carton--12 boxes of tape, each box holding two rolls, red and black. The company is new and hasn't yet worked out any retail outlets, though they hope to soon have it at Home Depot. Bought a carton for $108 plus shipping, so now I have some extras.

If anybody wants to buy some, let me know at stephwilkinson@verizon.net. (Don't bother with "private messaging.") I'll sell it for what it cost me--$10.25 a box including the shipping to me--plus whatever it costs me to mail it to you. (The boxes are small, about the size and weight of a pack and a half of cigarettes.)

Tell me how many boxes you want and provide a mailing address, and I'll let you know the total after I mail the package, you can just send me a check when convenient. First come first served, and I already have two Pelicans signed up.

Stephan,

The silicone self sealing tape is not all that unique. You can get a small roll of it in the electrical supply section at your local home improvement store. I got a roll of Gardner Bender brand tape from Menards

Interesting...I have used silicone tape before, but I was under the impression that this was heavier-duty, an industrial-strength variety. They've apparently been going to yachting and trade shows with it, so the company seems to feel they have something special. Whatever.

i use the stuff for insulating toroid transformers, it is a pain to use because it bonds to itself quite easily - which is why it works. on oil bath submerged transformers it keeps the oil out of the windings for a fair amount of time. the other alternatives are epoxy encapsulating which is far more labor intensive for production and mylar tape. you can get it from mcmaster-carr also. your price is reasonable, i pay a little less but i buy in volume. it is useful to have in the toolbox.

Some of the race parts suppliers (ie Pegasus) also carry this, but it's typically $18/roll.

Another product/source here. They sell smaller quatities than ER and appear to have retail distribution set up already through Ace & True Value.

The Rescue Tape seems to have the very same specs as the ER Tape, so that indeed would be a more convenient source. Thanks for the tip. I love the fact that they advertise that it can be used as an "emergency fan belt..."

i like the "use it as a tourniquet or covering over bleeding injuries" ... kinda gruesome concept though. I think I'd keep it in the tool box, not the first aid box ...

Yep ... my employer would be very upset if I was missing whenever the 911 wasn't up to transportation duty ...
