I wonder, did most CS's have limited slip transmissions and was there any difference in the spring or bushings. I wonder if not having the sunroof which eliminates 40 lbs up so high makes a difference in body roll.

911st:
The LSD was an option on the CS; according to my records, 13 of the 28 in the US have LSD. All CS's came with stiffer Bilstein sport shocks and 22mm front 21mm rear sway bars. AFAIK, aside from the CS specific engine mounts, the bushings are stock. If you (or anyone) want more detail on CS specs etc. I can send a few docs your way.
Email me at 911clubspport@gmail.com and I'll get them to you. When my car became available I thought about the weight and minimally higher Cg but since these are on the market only occasionally, I jumped at it in 2002. Without A/C, a sunroof comes in handy occasionally. I've noticed no significant body roll on mine but I did lower it a little and I do have wider tires. :D

What were the stock tire sizes on the 15 inch rims? Cheers, John

Not real sure John, mine came with 6x8/16's with 205/55 and 225/50's. I'll defer to another CS owner that may be viewing this thread. If I don't see an answer soon, I'll do some research and let you know.

Hey "88cs" - do you know the answer? Any other CS dudes out there know?

Mike:

You will see me. I forgot to post the EAG/Racer's Edge "Cars and Coffee" on Pelican.

Anyone can go to our web site for information, www.europeanautogarage.com.

Jack:

Thanks for posting the picture on my CS. You need to come visit our shop!

Tom:

Thanks for your efforts to continue to get the CS word out!

I've enjoyed my CS more than any street Porsche that I've owned. The cars are a blast and yes, the burgundy does work with the the Gulf Blue, at least for most people...:)

I only know that Marcus' 1988 Euro came to him with 6 and 7 x 16 with 205/225 rubber. Nothing special, but of course entirely possible these were not original wheels. He's running 8 and 9 x 16 225/245 now.

John:
According to P. Paternie's Red Book, they came stock from the factory with Pirelli P6 tires in 195/65VR15 front and 215/60VR15 rear.

Tom,

Your CS is the nicest I've ever seen. It looks the business with the bigger Fuchs and the black H4 trim rings. Definitely a keeper!

Remember my old CS well (centre) - TomT, that's Steve Darnells on the right

TomTurtle 11-07-2008 01:54 PM

Thanks for the props Jorian! Wish I could drive it some more; the 914 turbo gets most of my attention nowadays!

Nice piccie Shirish!
Steve had his car on the market for a while but eventually "saw the light" and kept it.

You need to come up for our next "Cars and Coffee". We had 60 cars (excluding our race cars and personal cars) and over 100 people. Minid will be posting pictures at several different forums.

Take care,

David

Anyone know where one can get one of those "Carrera CS" decals? I've looked for those over the years and have never found them...

Your decals went today......

YES YES somebody please bring a CS to the Irvine, CA cars and coffee. There was an Enzo last week.....I'd rather see a factory CS!!!

911st 11-14-2008 12:16 PM

Did the CS have a center console?

Were they all roll up windows? US v ROW.

Any pics of the interior?

Except for the cloth surface, how did they differ from the stock sport seats? Were they electric for front rear height/tip?

How were any Red CS's trimmed as to wheel colors and graphics colors?

Was the stock suspension with Sport shocks competent on the track. My 85 w 86 sways and springs seems soft.

Thx ;)

TomTurtle 11-14-2008 06:39 PM

Did the CS have a center console?
YES -PIC ATTACHED

Were they all roll up windows? US v ROW.
YES, ALL ROLL UP, BOTH US AND RoW

Any pics of the interior?
ATTACHED. NOTE THE "PORSCHE CLOTH". (Matter rollbar in pic not stock)

Except for the cloth surface, how did they differ from the stock sport seats?
SIDE BOLSTERS PROVIDE MORE SIDE SUPPORT - MORE OF A RACING-TYPE SEAT - SEE PIC

Were they electric for front rear height/tip?
SEATS ARE ALL MANUAL, NO POWER

How were any Red CS's trimmed as to wheel colors and graphics colors?
ALL 53 UK CS's ARE GP WHITE WITH RED ROCKER PANEL LETTERING AND RED FUCHS. AFAIK THERE IS ONLY ONE RED CS AND IT HAS THE LEFT FRONT FENDER LOGO. I BELIEVE THERE IS ONE RoW 1987 RED CS.

Was the stock suspension with Sport shocks competent on the track.
I HAVE ONLY AUTOCROSSED MINE AND IT WAS SUFFICIENT. ONE OWNER TRACKED HIS - BEEFED UP THE SWAY BARS, SUBSTITUTED HEAVIER TORSION BARS AND SHORTER GEARS AND PUT BOXTER BRAKES IN FRONT

911st 11-14-2008 07:19 PM

Thank you Tom.

Is the carpet basically a 73 RS light weight carpet kit?

Good to know.

TomTurtle 11-14-2008 07:44 PM

Not sure about the carpet kit - AFAIK its period stock 911 carpet; nothing from the 1988 PCNA press release about the CS indicates otherwise.
