Darryl's 912 page

Sorry this little off-topic but does anybody know if Darryl have moved his 912 restoration webpages to some other server? Old address doesn't work anymore and they are THE best Porsche restoration webpages I have seen. I really need those pages, thay are just fantastic pages and huge help doing restoration...

great page

D is really amazing. When you look at his expense sheet to refurbish the 912, many can get a "real" idea what it cost to restore a Porsche. He bought that 912 for $2500 and finshed @ $25,000 incl / purchase to redue the car.

Hey, thanks for the kind words about my website!

Man, I have been experiencing a personal computing technology renaissance the last couple weeks! First AOL goes out of the web site hosting business so I have to get my own domain name (darrylsgarage.com) on a new ISP (EarthLink) and then my Windows XP computer goes Tango-Uniform (T-U... tits-up) and I have to get a new one running Windows Vista! I've tried to make it my mission in life to avoid new technology since I retired from Microsoft 11 years ago and just want to be left alone in my garage and focus on nice, predictable, unchanging, obsolete automotive technology!

On the 912 front, the new headliner is in, the rear window ready to install and I'm trying to source a new windshield without the tint stripe across the top (all clear) and only see one at Stoddards for over $400! I can get a tinted PPG from a local source, installed for about $250 and they assume the risk of breaking it on installation not me! Man, sometimes it is really difficult to justify the cost of originality!

hey darryl,
re your rear defroster vents, have you considered the liquid hand tool handle dip?
it might work for you instead of paint. you site was and is an inspiration, i'm glad to have it as a resource again

Several years ago I had the windshield replaced w/o the tint strip, regretted it almost immediately. When I had the car painted a couple of years ago, I got one with the tint strip. If you are at all sensitive to light, the tint is definitely worth it.

Fantastic work. I enjoy reading/seeing of your progress on your projects.

Cheers
