ROW Dyno Run

Well I finally got round to getting my 1985 ROW with SSI's and a danske sport muffler on the dyno today and was a little disappointed in the numbers. This run was with a SW chip installed before I send it back to Steve to be retuned. The chip did make a noticable seat of the pants difference so I am not sure why the hp is so low.

I was expecting over 200hp and 190 ft lbs at least looking at others results. Looking at the graphs I am wondering whether the engine may be missing or similar above 5k. The dyno operator thought he could detect a slight miss.

Am going to R and R plugs, wires and caps and do another run to see if that makes a difference.

Am also considering an M&K but want to get the basics right first.

Could be that this particular dyno reads a little low. Dynos are best used for comparing changes made.

Everything look normal up until 4800, when your power starts falling off sharply. Have you verified for full throttle opening, and also verified that your full throttle switch is activating? Also misses would bring down the power, if the plugs are too old, or gapped improperly. Did you also get an air/fuel log?

I would be looking at the injectors as well... Possibly send them out to be tested.

Marren is an excellent source for this

Don't forget the ignition rotor...

I would also recommend a cylinder leakage test in conjunction with a compression test

If you're going to replace all the wires, fine, if not, I would measure the resistance of all the connectors both at the cap and on the plug connectors... Although, sometimes they check good cold but break down hot or under a load...

maybe the contacts on the AFM are dirty? Maybe it never breathed that hard before, and the potentiometer is in unfamiliar/(unused) territory??

Steve will do these checks for WOT this week. Also am going to do a quick tune up and re dyno next week. We stopped the testing today once the issue was noticed. I want to make sure that everything is good before I get the chip back to you for finalizing. I need to get the air/fule log on the next run. I also thought that the power fell off too soon.

RSR Mike thanks for the input I will replace the ignition rotor as well and check out the AFM. Will also consider the injectors once I have covered the easy bits.
