Question I want to replace my radio with something useful

Hi folks,

Not that driving tunes aren't useful, BUT...

...my p-car is strictly for the track. The old radio doesn't work and I don't have speaker's anyway, so I'd like to yank it out and replace it with something useful.

I was looking around for a plastic compartment that could slide into the empty space, but I haven't seen anything like that in the catalogs. (I used to have one for my Spitfire.)

Have any of you time trial or autocross guys done anything constructive with that space after removing the radio?

Thumbs up

i am installing a fuel pump cutoff that will go in place of the radio. that along with an electrical system cutoff would be the smartest thing you could put there

just shape a piece of aluminum and install the switches there. if you need pics, e-mail me and i can provide them for you. i have a TON of race car interior photos that i took... everything from 914s to prototypes.

i took these not too long ago. they are full-res, but browse around here:

I agree with Obin about the fuel and electrical cut-off switches, although I prefer the inertial fuel cut-off, since you don't have to think about it. You could always put some useful gauges there as well (head temp, boost, EGT, IAT, fuel press, etc.).

Good place for a Hot Lap display, too.
