Applying side script decals
I'm sure this topic has been covered before, but I can't seem to locate the thread. Any suggestions for the best method in applying the side script decals to the lower portion of a longhood's doors? Thanks.

Mike, I can give you generic instructions on putting film on a surface.
1). Clean area well with a grease wax remover 2). Lay the script where you want it and mark with pieces of tape, (outline the area). 3). Add a little, a few drops, of baby shampoo to luke warm water. 4). Remove the paper backing and wet with the lightly soaped water. Doesn't hurt to wet the substrate either. 5). Place the script in the area previously mark. Using a bondo squeegee push the air/water bubbles from under the film. 7). If you have any tiny air bubbles left you can use a pin to pop the bubble and press the air out. You'll never see them. I'm sure others will chime in with other recommendations. Good luck and post pictures of your work!

That sounds like the description of what I did to install my Carrera Stripe. I might add....let it sit for a day or so to completely allow the water to evaporate and the adhesive obtain its full bond.

Do people align the back of the script with the back bumper?

Thanks for the advice, and great pic. I plan to tackle the job this weekend and will share a shot of the finished product.

Basically, according to the factory, the stripe was to be mounted to what amounts to be about 2'' above the rocker moulding. I forget the other measurements for where the letters are supposed to start on the left and right sides.

Side Carrera stripe install 2" up from bottom of door.
Driver side stripe, "C" starts 1/2" behind door forward edge. Passenger side stripe, last "a" finishes just before forward door edge. Porsche stripe on ducktail 1.4" above edge at the middle. Carrera decal 6.25" down from top of ducktail decal starts 3.75" to the right of center. |
