Unexpected Problem with WEVO Shifter
Ok, so I bought a wevo shifter and installed it back in September, and it works great.
Unfortunately, an issue has arisen with the shift knob. It gets REALLY FRICKIN' COLD. Yeah... anodized aluminum? Not the greatest material for a shift knob, IMHO. I have some mountain bike gloves that insulate my palm from the shifter pretty well, but I'm hesitant to wear them during the day since... well.... you know. Has anyone duplicated a Wevo knob in another material? Wood would be the obvious first choice, but something like delrin would probably be easy as well. A leather cover might work, but my last attempt at covering a shift knob with leather was an utter failure. Obligatory picture: ![]()

Not the best idea but how about that material you dip pliers handles into to insulate them, it would be temporary and you could peel it off in the warmer months.

Just slip something over the knob. I've used a golf glove (not on my hand on the knob). I also use a little knitted mitten I got from Starbucks last year. It was intended for gift cards, but it fits perfectly on the knob. Perfect at Christmas time. I have always wanted to have a neoprene cover made up, but haven't gotten around to it.

Maybe you could cut a piece of fabric from your skirt and fashion a small handkerchief until the knob warms up to your liking?
![]() Sorry, couldn't resist, I mean really - shift knob is too cold?

sounds to me like someone needs to make a wood knob... i would take one! especially if it had the 917 shifter knob look. ( and was the tall version)

This might be silly but the sock (gag gift) that they sell for keeping your little man warm would fits perfectly over the shift knob. :-)
Another solution would be to buy a baby socks to put over your knob for winter use. |

Wevo makes an adapter that allows the use of a Momo knob. I use a tall black leather Momo knob in the street car.

It sounds like there is a market for a tall wooden knob. I'll have to look into having some made. I haven't heard about the Momo adapter, but I'm not a fan of Momo knobs anyway. I have yet to see one that doesn't scream "boy racer"...

I've got a Momo Tall Anatomic Shift knob as well as a vintage Amco leather shift knob with the Porsche logo (set screw). If you're interested, PM me. An added feature of the Momo is that one can adjust the depth the shift lever reaches into this knob (also set screws to tighten), in effect making the lever that much longer. Sherwood |

I guess the standard wevo shifter won't allow a P knob.
My classic wevo shifter model does allow the wood knob.

You could dunk it in some plasti-dip. Put a cap in the hole and "dip it". I think that stuff peals off easily without doing any damage or staining the aluminum if you end up not liking it.

go to a kids consignment store and get a pair of mittens for an infant. cut off the thumb and stitch up the hole. I haven't tried it myself but from where I'm sitting I can see my one-year old's mittens and they look like they would work.
