Fitted the 'parcel shelf', however its easily removeable using allen bolts. It makes up part of the removeable rear seat section.....should add abit of extra sound deadening.

Will add another layer on the backside to clean it up abit...

When I put my red car through its first UK MOT I needed to change the rear-light lenses. Whilst changing the lenses I tried to make the lights abit brighter by re-finishing the internal part of the unit. I thought about re-chroming, too expensive, spraying, too messy........baking foil and double side tape, perfect! I Updated these lights this afternoon. I would like to think it makes some difference...

Before...

Foil on the flat and vertical surfaces...

New lens in place, ready for final fitting...

Excellent idea on the foil and double sided tape! I have some fronts I need to work over and will try this on them!

dicklague 08-01-2010 01:38 PM

Are you going to put LEDS in there??

earlyaircooled 08-01-2010 08:15 PM

More nice work Chris, way to go

The other option was to use mirror card...

...only problems being

A. did not have any to hand
B. maybe an issue if any water gets in?

Any idea or leads on where I can get some 911 motor mounts? The actually metal brackets...

Chris, great build - thoroughly enjoying it!

I thought I'd flag that the closed cell foam tape you're using for the bonnet doesn't have or create a channel to clear water... ask me how I know ;) The previous owner of my car did something similar, but only the factory seal has a lip that prevents water from slipping behind the main part of the seal and making its way underneath into the metal channel. As a result of this I'm dealing with some rust that developed under the channel of my car. I notice you've got another 911 to compare - you'll see what I mean.

Cheers

Hey Chris - a great build this. I've got it bookmarked!

You could try Douglas Valley Breakers in the UK for the engine mounts. You might need to persuade them to cut them from the car though.

Failing that, there is a guy on ebay breaking a 2.7 911 - he might do it, although some of his prices are a bit unrealistic IMO Ebay seller

Hi! What an awesome project! I like the seats as well, could you tell me where they're from? Bart

earlyaircooled 08-03-2010 02:59 PM

off and on Porsche has motor mounts in stock unless they have gone permanently NLA. Have you tried ordering new ones from Porsche?

Packy 08-03-2010 03:41 PM

make your own. I feel like the stock ones are flimsy anyways.

Seats are Cobra RS classic, similar to the GTS Nurburgring. I got them from:

https://www.europaspares.com/SEATS/COBRA_SEATS/COBRA_SEAT___CLASSIC_RS___SIGNATURE_VINYL___CLASSR SIG01__5132.html

But they are also available through Demon Tweeks in the UK

Sometimes it is that obvious:) I'll look through the PET catalogue and get in touch with Porsche

(May be over in Portland later in the year, will let you know)

Cheers, I had a look on their site:

https://www.europaspares.com/SEATS/COBRA_SEATS/COBRA_SEAT___CLASSIC_RS___SIGNATURE_VINYL___CLASSR SIG01__5132.html

https://www.europaspares.com/SEATS/COBRA_SEATS/COBRA_SEAT___CLASSIC_RS___STANDARD_VINYL___CORD_49 18.html

There seem to be two variants of the same seat... has anyone seen the two next to each other and is it worth forking out for the more expensive version?

jury 08-21-2010 02:14 PM

I think (but I may be wrong) the expensive option just allows you to choose different colours? But its the same seat either way.....

Thanks
Chris

Yep, realising this may be a problem.....I hope it doesn't come back to haunt me too much! Its an on going project, so hopefully it will get sorted;)

Thanks
Chris
