There is a 'Sam Brown' belt stud fitted through the door top trim piece. The pull strap has 3 punch holes through it which allow the window to be:

- Closed
- Halfway
- Open

The stud is just about visible in the above picture.

Something like this:

Sam Brown 5/16" Nickel Plate Button Stud

Cheers

Hi Chris,

How is the paint holding up? Would you do it again?

John

Chris...would you mind sending me the Heuer clock face? I'd appreciate it. If so...you can send to 2syllableword@gmail.com. If not...no harm, no foul!

Back off, and back on again...Thats better

...and, Y'know when you spend afew hours head scratching why an oil hose won't fit....well it is always worth checking if the connector piece was put on the right way round in the first place

The fibreglass tinware took abit of work and 'shaping' to get it all to fit. Still, that does now mean that the engine is finally ready to go in...

John

Paint is still good, the true test will come when I eventually start using the car. I have needed to take afew areas back to bare metal for some construction changes, but these have been re-painted, sanded and polished without any signs of the work being done.

I don't know if I would do the process again, the process lended itself to this type of build.....If I take on another project, I think it will be a more 'conventional' rebuild.

Some more money saving...

Mirror picked up for 10 dollars !!! which was worth it alone for the 'old school' box graphic...
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps1911d28c.jpg

fitting plate is too small to fit, so cut a piece of plate and bolt it through...
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0003848b.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps7461fc72.jpg

weld around, remove bolts and plug weld the hole...
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps71f9b7f0.jpg

dress the weld...
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps43a48f4a.jpg

and painted, ready to fit

There is something missing...

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...pse00dafd6.jpg

Car, it is finally time to meet your engine...
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps34cd95f9.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps3a51b9c0.jpg

Its taken a long time to get here, but the engine and gearbox went in in about half an hour...
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...pseb20bf98.jpg

and I am man enough to admit, I did shed a tear...

Onwards...:)
