Pertronix help.......
First of all......I've done the search and read the posts (most were on the wiring of the unit).
I'm replacing a Pertronix ignitor. A wire from the previous unit had rubbed against the bottom of the rotor and pulled from the Pertronix. Ordered the unit for my car ('77 911S) from our host. I followed all the instructions. Anyway, car fires right up, idles OK, but runs awful......feels like I'm in 5th gear starting up a hill. What did I do wrong on the install? Is the unit bad? Is this just timing? I've never set the timing. I guess I'm hoping this is the problem so I don't keep thinking I've installed incorrectly or it's a bad unit (which in my search has shown that there are several bad units). Just wanted to check with the experts Any help is appreciated.

the timing gets changed when you move the box around for distance adjustment.
... this assumes it's wired correctly

Thanks Ronin.......I assume it's wired correctly since I simply replaced the previous unit.

Air gap is super important!I set mine at 30 . Make sure there tight as well a lose trigger can cause lots of grief. As said timing will change with the air gap.

Hey tooth........I used the clear plastic feeler gauge they sent with the unit. I think its .30 mm.

some pelicanheads report that if you leave the ignition switch to "on" without the engine running you can destroy the Pertronix.
I never read any other hard info. With that in mind I wired it through a connector block so I can just unscrew a terminal easily.
