What's the most common?

What is the most common porsche ever made?

So, all things considered....
So, if it is a 1986 911, then it was a red one, then it had a black interior....etc.

I was just curious to see if I had one of the most common ones..

1983 911 Cab red/black.

I am not sure if this is the right forum, but I figured this is where most of my time is spent and the 911 crew seems to be the most knowledgeable.....

So, I am not sure if the question is clear....but I am wondering what is the most common car with the most common options....

just curious!

thanks.

t.

Your SC cab is one of the least common Porsches made!

If you are talking all "Porsches," my guess would be one of the years of the Boxster has the highest production number for any given model year.

If you are talking, say, pre-89 cars, I'd say that one of the mid 80s years of the 944 had the highest. Maybe 85 or 86. Red on black, or black on black.

Those are just guesses.

or 914

are you totaling over model years? or the max per single year?

or lumping T, E, and S?

or what...

I think you could lump T E and S, wouldn't make a difference, even combined, their sales wouldn't come close to being the highest.

I think the highest year for the 914 was around 1973, with around 27,000 cars sold. Pretty sure the 944 sold in the 30-40,000 range at it's peak, around 85/86

Those 914 and 944 numbers are fairly huge in Porsche terms at the time, right? Does that partly explain the lower values? Supply and demand?

IMO, no, not really.

Supply of decent 914s and 944s is actually pretty low. But so is demand.

Does anyone have a yearly breakdown?
I was just curious as we all tend to know the most rare, so what is the most common...

then we would lump Boxster & Boxster S, right?

I don't think that chart can be right. I think, for example, that Cayenne production alone in some years exceeded 40,000 units.

OMG, is it possible that the most common Porsche is an SUV?!? The horror!!!

So, to answer a question from above, all models included...I would imagine that the Boxster and Boxster S would be different, as would a 944 Turbo and a 944.

I will cry if its an SUV....

I compiled these 911 (and 996) worldwide model-year production totals based on Patrick Paternie's "Porsche 911 Red Book."

These totals combine all types and variations of 911s, but not 930 turbos.

1970 -- 14,466
1972 -- 12,962
1974 -- 11,624
1977 -- 12,427
1982 -- 10,117
1983 -- 12,613
1987 -- 15,120
2000 -- 27,954 (996)

If you are including the Cayenne in your question, then I think for sure the Cayenne has the highest single year production.

I'm not sure it ever made the production number goals, but those were pretty high. This was a car designed to be a relatively high volume car.

The base Cayenne, using the engine out of a VW Golf and sharing chassis costs with VW, was able to be sold at a fairly low price for a "Porsh," and sold a lot of units.

I think over half of Cayennes sold are the base v6 version, the S and Turbo varients cover the rest.

For Porsche 911, 1984 - 1989, here are the factory production numbers.

This also doesn't separate M491 turbo-look/supersports, as I have yet to find a trustworthy source for that information.

And of course, this doesn't include 930's, or any cars since converted to something else, e.g. "normal" 911's converted to Club Sport look-alikes, or Speedster conversions.

the graph is for total production of all 911s (or "911s" for the later years of the 964/993/996/997)
