Yep, that's where I was! And my engine is 100% leak free, not a single drop comes out. Next time I get under there I think I'll take the time to clean everything up underneath my car. Thanks for the compliment!

Why was it re-sprayed with only 40K miles. 29 years as a garage queen should have kept the paint cherry; am I missing something??

Well in the end, this has helped me get over my fear of working on my car... Sure I messed up, but this apparently happens all the time, so it's not like I did something stupid. Plus, it's fixable. Just gotta drill them out. Oh, can anyone tell me where to purchase the funky wrench thing, so I can bolt on the SSIs easier? It's almost tempting to just go with headers, since it would be so much easier to install... My car doesn't have a heater anyways, might as well.

The original owner had it for 29 years, then another guy bought it, and this guy was apparently a bit of a "tinkerer". It got a momo steering wheel and shift knob, 8 inch fuchs in the back, braided stainless brake lines, drilled rotors, and a nice stereo. So my guess is he resprayed it just to freshen it up.

Sorry for the long wait inbetween updates. I got my exhaust stud drill-out kit from Pelican Parts (who else!) and went at it. I'll be honest, I was EXTREMELY apprehensive about taking a drill to my beloved Porsche, but it all worked out okay. The bit did end up dulling ( I think I went a little long on a few studs and dulled it), but I got 3 of the 5 studs out and replaced no problem. Boy was my arm tired from laying on my back and pushing up on a drill though! So right now I only have 1 broken stud on each exhaust manifold, so while there is still a slight exhaust leak, it's very minimal, and not as pressing as it was before.

The SSIs and the 2 in 2 out M&K muffler sound mean! It drones a bit much for my ears between 2000-2700RPM, but above that it starts howling like a race car. I'm in love with the sound. I'll try to post some pictures of the process tomorrow morning. For anyone else with broken exhaust studs, I definitely recommend this kit. It takes a while, but it's pretty fail-safe (especially if I did it correctly!) and it's definitely cheaper than letting someone else do it!

Oh, next project is the lightweight RS carpet. Hopefully I can get some 911R taillights soon as well.
