i could tell if the plug wires were arching
You can still use that as a litmus test.. Just stand behind the car and rev the engine when its dark.. look for arcing.

anyone cut their own wires?
Yes many times... from copper core to the spiral wounds.... many times we trim the Magnecore "made to fit" sets to fit better

just curious would like to here more.

Not velcro but black duct tape in layers to make up the difference in inside diameters for a snug and concentric fit. The zip tie on the rotor is just insurance in case the JB weld is not enough.

Never had a problem with this setup and it's been over 3yrs now. Besides, I have lots of spares from prototype development from parts scoured from my local auto recycler.

Another benefit that these parts bring is the fact that they have been tested on millions of Chrysler and Jeep vehicles on the road today with a reliability that would put the Porsche factory to shame.

Additionally, all these components are all HEI (high energy ignition) rated which means I can gap my plugs to 0.060" to take full advantage of the stock DME ignition performance potential without having to resort to any overrated aftermarket ignition systems.

As it turns out, the only part that really needed to be modified was the rotor to match up with the larger diameter distributor cap. The rest of the parts are basically off the shelf OEM Chrysler ignition cables and a Jeep Cherokee distributor cap.

Cheers,

Joe

From which Chrysler car are the ignition cables ? Would they fit into the original Bosch or Marelli cap?

Thanks for sharing your retrofit !

93-97 3.5 V6 Chrysler Concorde, LHS, New Yorker, Dodge Intrepid, Eagle Vision

These cables would not fit Bosch or Marelli caps unless, of course, you cut off the Chrysler ends and crimped on the Bosch ends, that's why I went with the Chrysler/Jeep cap to make everything compatible while maintaining the integrity of the complete HEI system. But why go to the trouble of crimping the Bosch ends on each individual wire when it's so much easier to piggyback a Chrysler rotor on a Bosch rotor and you're done.
