915 Shift Linkage Threads

I have a 915 gearbox in my car and I waswondering about the adjustment point behind the rear seats.

Is it ok to use the super fine threads as an ajdustment ? In other words, Do the Threads on the shaft "have" to be tightened in all the way as a standard, or can these also be used as an adjustment

I have turned mine out about 2.5 turns to make the car go into the 1st / 3rd positions better. I was noticing that in first I was hearing a chattering before this adj..

I ran the car about 70 miles today and was pleased with the shifting. Over the week I realized that the Allen Set Screw had backed out a bit and was allowing lots of slop.
