Phil, cool, glad its fixed. John told me after you fixed the cap that you got it running ok, so I didnt bother to check it out any further, but apparantly it wasnt correct at that point. I will investigate as to who was the genius who did the fuse swap and beat them profusly for you.

check air mass boot for cracks or broken hose nipples on back of boot (you cant see em without removing boot) Also, on back of fuel distributor/air mass venturi, there is a plug that plugs into the unit. This plug the wire goes onto is a ground so that when engine is off it prevents fuel pump from running (also shuts off fuel pump if rearended and engine quits). This allows you an accessory position on your ignition switch. Reach behind the left side of the unit and feel for this wire. It is basically located at bottom of venturi plate on the unit and is hard to find by feel the first time. When removed, try starting and see if it will idle. If it does, re-connect and check the air mass boot. I had this occur on my 1980 SC and it really ran me in circles. Best of luck.
