Carrera tail, Turbo Tail, 3.8 tail etc...??

I wanted to confirm something,

Of the 3 rear spoilers mentioned. Am I correct in saying the Carrera tail produces no Down Force, ?

does the turbo tail ?

3.8 Tail ??

I run a fibergalss 3.8 tail on my 911 SC and a yellowbird front bumper cover with a
2.5" stiff rubber lip.

I don't think I could do anything else to the front or back to assist in handling at high speed. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Is the Lip too large? (i could not see what negatives that could cause though)

My understanding is (simplified) I am trying to prevent as much air as possible from getting under the front of the car. and creat down force in the back at higher speed for better handling.

What else could I do to improve the handling?

So does the 911 slopey front design already create sufficient downforce up front?

*79 SC

Some one mentioned the other day that the single best thing you can do for your car is to tighten the nut behind the steering wheel.

the 3.8 tail is the most efficient and will give the best possibly lift/draag #s of the ones listed. The front is also good.

Both can be improved, the front w/ a forward projecting splitter and the rear by raising the wing higher and making it wider. Both are tough to accomplish for dual use cars.

Thanks Bill, The rear spoiler should be level with the roof line of the 911 correct?
For a driven daily 911 on teh street that woudl just be too weird. If I added a front splitter to each corner of the front would that make enough of a difference?

I have the same style Yellowbird bumpers as you. Running my '75 Carrera style tail on the rear with a 3.5" rubber lip up front has given me a nice balance at the track, only getting light in the front over 120. I'm switching to the 3.8RS wing shortly and have ordered a completely different front valance to match the new rear downforce.

My research (conversations with other who've done this) suggests that the front lip will not offer sufficient downforce to match the rear, in fact the lip creates zero downforce while the 3.8RS tail will add downforce at higher track speeds. To equal the rear, a front splitter will be essential but trying to come up with something that works with the front Yellowbird while not looking cobbled together was impossible so this weekend the Yellowbird front will be coming off to be replaced by a TRE piece with moulded in splitter. Last thing I want at triple digit track speeds is a car that's too light in the front end.
