Question Need motronic genius to explain electronic control unit/coil functions??

Can anyone explain to me the relationship between the ignition coil and the electronic control module. My ignition coil has higher than normal primary circuit resistance. I suspect it has been causing a fuel mileage problem. The primary circuit resistance in my coil is 1.2 ohms the spec is .4 to .7 ohms. I would like to understand what higher than normal primary coil resistance would do under these circumstances as it is in the control module circuit, and what the net effect might be, thank you JL
