The water pump is driven off one of the cams and the turbo drains into the sump plate. Fun!

I was looking at how the different race 934's modified the vitaloni sebring mirrors. I'm sure they did it for all kind of reasons. With the mirrors right on the door as they were made to go there is not much adjustment. And the passenger side mirror is almost useless. I saw where some mirrors were lifted up some with plastic spacers and that helps. Looks like some were mounted with a mirror base like this lovely pink rig.

Well I found a base that I think workss ok to get the mirrors up a bit and get more visability and adjustment. Pegasus sells this spa mirror repair base that fits the 5mm hole. I made a small metal plate to give the plastic base of the mirror more support. Used the rubber that came with the vitaloni mirror to make a smaller gasket for the spa base. The main thing is drill a center hole in the door also incase you ever need to tighten the pivot bolt or adjust angle of the mirror, or you will have to remove mirror to do it.

To do one mirror: cut gasket, back plate, (2) 5mm bolts and loknuts for base (1) 5mm bolt and (2) loknuts for under mirror for support.

Not much progress, got 17" rims and R6 Hoosiers. Decided not enough choices in the 16" tires, 16" rims definitely look more correct but oh well.

Good decision on going with the 17's, lot more tire options and i see u have gotten a better offset with the new outer rim halves. I actually think the 17's look better on the 934 than the stock 16's ever did, as the 16s were always a compromise (width wise) from the start anyway due to FIA regulations at the time.

Cut out the rear windshield and made up some straps out of aluminum to hold it in. Also cut out quarter windows and mounted naca ducts.

I used the Vittoli convex mirror on the passenger side 935 mirror. I had to buy the whole assembly to get the mirror. Works great.

Who did the paint work.

Harold the paint job was done by a guy out near Denver airport in Aurora CO.

Got the brakes working over the weekend and the car is officially a roller again.

Well it time to get the car down our steep driveway and over to Greg Johnson at Eurosport to get wired and plumbed for the engine, EEhaaa!!!! Well the brakes worked, my neighbor Jim walked close but like he would be able to do anything if they failed. The driveway drops between 100 and 125 ft in elevation plus had to back down to a hairpin to have a straight shot. Too bad the front is so low, maybe I could have coasted into the trailer. Had to put down 2x10's to bump up to get into trailer. I mounted a small remote control winch in the trailer to pull the car inside. The little 3000# winch worked great. Glad to get this car down before winter gets here. Maybe have some progress to show after the holidays. L8TR, Tad

Thought I would update whats been going on with the car since November. The engine is pretty much ready to go back in the car finally. There was alot of fabwork to do on the engine sheet metal before going to powder coat, The fan was powder coated as well but I failed to give good instructions on areas to not coat, you guessed it alot of sanding to get clearance on blade edges and where the alternator mounts in the fan housing as well.

Another thing I did was flock the fiberglass dash I had in a charcoal color. Should help against glare and I think it looks better than painted.

The other thing thats been slowing me up was figuring out how to do the intercooler which will be air to water with two front radiators and intercooler in rear as was the original 934, but the water pump and resevoir tank will be in front instead. Here is a simple diagram of the original 934 system.

Your build is amazing man. I just wanted to say keep it up. I was getting discourgaged the other day and a friend told me to keep it up. Very few people have the balls (or the pockets) to do a build like yours! Keep up the good work man! Im jealous!

Chris, thanks for the compliments, this project has been fun. Its not my first porsche build but it is my first race car project. And to spend this much time building a car to track it , well I struggled for a while but now can't wait to just get it to the point to do some laps for break in and get the car sorted. Shooting to have it running sometime end of May, still alot to do.

Well that is a lot sooner than mine. Still have soo much to get her running again. There just never seems to be enough time (or money for that matter) to get anywhere. Im shooting for Dec to have her running by the end of the year. But I kind of doubt that. This time next year is a little more realistic.

Gee Chris a year, I was four years on mine in february, hang in there because it seems to take much longer than you think it will , believe me, spent seven years on a 67S and still had a few things not done when I sold it three years later. But I enjoy every wrench throwing, back aching, drank too much to keep workin on it broke the bank minute of it. What can I say but " I am a Porsche Addict".

Intercooler setup
 

Well May came and went and car still has a long way to go and so do I. After having a pretty scary bicycle accident two months ago I am gimping around,only three torn hamstrings and road rash nothin broke but sore as hell, not bad for being struck by a bus. The bus driver nor I was ticketed so away we go, glad I had good insurance to cover emergency room, ambulance and all that fun stuff.

Decisions were made during recovery and going forward with intercooler. Early 934's had the water intercoolers due to group 4 rules which I think was much to do with the tail size which could not be modified so there was no room for a big hawkin intercooler under the stock tail lid so Porsche found a way around that with the smaller water intercoolers. There has been alot of discussions on these forums in the past about intercooling and pros and cons of air/air and the air/water cooling. I stubbornly decided to go the water cooler route and we will see how it goes.
Sometime back somebody on the turbo forum mentioned the Laminova cooling cores which are used now by Audi and others. The laminova core will be the basis for the cooling.

Mounted the intercooler to the right side for couple of reasons, out of the way for working on engine, stays in place for a engine drop.

Next the water tank will be made to fit up behind the cooler and a filler line will come up over intercooler so fill cap will be higher than the system. Water pump will go left of tank. I had thought about having the pump and tank up front but there was plenty of space in the rear for a clean setup similar to the original location of the pump and water tank.

WOW - although there is nothing lucky about being hit by a bus, your lucky you had a helmet on. That is a wreck. Glad you escaped with only minor injuries.

Maybe Gabe and the Zug boys will start selling them so I won't have to make one. Gabe , Im watchin for progress on the new wheels. As for the front for stiffness, only welded in a crossmember from the shock towers. Gabe, I see you guys make a repo of the 935 brace for the front. Also saw where TRE is making a copy of the 934-935 fiberglass fuel tank shell, without the bladder.

Yes we make the 935 brace repro that would look TITS in there, also - the TRE fiberglass fuel holder is cool but getting a custom bladder is $$$$$.

After the 935 5 spoke wheels are done i'm going to commission a 935 fuel cell done in aluminum & polished by our guy who does the braces. It will be made to work in conjunction with the brace we sell.

I love your progress and have to admit, its the coolest build by far, and without projects like this - we'd be all a little less happy. Thanks Tadman!
