Absolutely agree – it is fascinating in a depressing sort of way of how this individual asked for advice (and freely admitted it was his fault for being towed) and seemed to get more than his fair share of insult and personal attack – and then people just try to justify it.

I guess it's all in how you interpret his post. I read it as someone who got what he deserved by not paying attention to the posted parking restrictions. Then without even knowing how his car was moved (flat bed, wheel lift, sling&hook, wheel dollies) starts making a list of damages that could have been caused by the legal actions of the tow service. All this in a public forum. This sounds more like retaliation than accepting responsibility for an honest mistake. To imply that the steering lock has somehow been effected tells me how little he really knows about his car and the workingsof the locking/steering mechanism. I'll be the first to admit that a careless tow truck operator CAN cause damage to a car but it is seldom something as minor as "Now my car pulls a little to the left". It's generally more like "The tow truck operator put a strap around the tie rod and now the tires are pointed in opposite directions". My point being it's hard to do minor damage in these situations.
I will offer one piece of advice, You had best have your case well assembled when you get to court because yours will NOT be the first claim, false or otherwise, that the tow company has responded to and it surely won't be the first case the judge has heard either. You talk about the prejudice that you experience as an attorney in a courtroom. You're about to experience the prejudice displayed toward people who make weak claims against tow services after having their car moved.

+1 Kevin
I will add that while we all sometimes get off topic and post entertaining stories and posts and banter back and forth, I generally come to Pelican and Rennlist to read tech posts... because I "have the while your in there disease" and like to gain some expertise and knowledge that I dont have.. Im currently doing an elephant street perf 2 complete package install, contemplating EFI for my SC and I find this board to be what gets me through and provide the information needed to do the job correctly the first time... I think that anytime you post a non-tech post with lots of colorful details, you will get a variety of responses and at that point its entertainment. I rarely read or comment on these entertainment posts, but this one grabbed my attention for some reason... If you cant take alittle flaming, then Id keep it 100% about tech issues and control the urge to "vent" on a public tech board...

Stealing a quote from Rodney King "Can't we all just get along...."
Legitimate questions about his car! Give em Hell, hit the tow company where it hurts, in the pocketbook. Word might get out and save one of us from a similar experience... At the very least it will make us all think twice about parking our favorite toys illegally. Just my 2 cents.... |

What happened to the fundamental "Due Process" principle? All these posts wreak of this very basic principle being completely ignored.
