Most online lists have a lot of errors. I'm doing research trying to get a comprehensive list from 1965 to 1983 covering the first three styles of paint codes. The are a lot of unidentified custom #s. Also the L999 referenced above basically means it is custom, and good luck determining the actual colour.

I've used "Porsche 911 Red Book 1965-1999" by Patrick C. Paternie over the years. It's worked well for me.

Thanks Guys. I was think of compiling a list and making it available on line..... sounds like it might be a bigger task than I thought.

Lets just say I have more than a year into the project, and I'm not ready to publish yet. I put 20 years into the 914 codes before I was satisfied, and published them. I figure it will be less than a year yet before I'm ready this time.
