missing CIS adjustment screw!!!
so i was going to tinker with my fuel mixture on the 82. I get the mm long Allen wrench and let her warm up. i found the hole, put the wrench in and was surprised at how far in it went ( about an inch)!!! then the idle dipped, and almost stalled.
am i correct in thinking that it is missing.. my mechanic was in there just about a week or 2 ago. she ran GREAT that first day i picked her up and then went back to running like crap. is it possible this has loosened it self up and fAllen out. or he didn't put it in there...... |

It IS a long way down in there, longer than I thought it would be. You're using a 3mm wrench, right? I think the wrench needs to be five or so inches long. I always had to fiddle with it until I could get the wrench in the head of the screw. Good luck.

I've not done this, but I loaned 3mm wrench to someone at the track. It was not the long model and they were successful. Going by that, I'd say it's somewhere less than 5".

Any movement will cause it to dip, it is very sensitive and you should not push down on it, If you decide to adjust it with the engine running then you will see when you turn it just a little it may cause the car to stall. That is why it is very important to remember exactly where you started. If your car is running now then you can use Souk's method off finding the middle point between rich stall and lean stall.
But, why are you adjusting the mixture?

oh well, here we go again!!! look and read all the old posts on cis adjustment or under cis fuel/air mixture adjustment.
again, this is not something you should adjust like a holley! read EVERYTHING you can and get some special tools BEFORE you start turning screws.

i use the long allen that came in the sears allen set. i works perfect.
you are pushing down on the plate thus changing the mixture. remember to remove the allen before you rev it up, dont leave it in there.
