Throttle console (on engine) spring req'd?

Just finishing some work getting ready to replace the intake manifold - and I noticed that I don't have a spring that looks the one I saw in the 86 and 89 PET or on our hosts parts list.

This spring looks like the axial type used on a pedal cluster, I'll see if I can U/L a pic, it's item 11.

Throttle was working without it fine - is it really necessary?
I'd hate to go thru the re-assembly knowing I missed something.

on edit - nice, I picked the pic w/o the item numbers - the spring is the upper left most one.

bump -

Anybody?

I never dis-assembled this thing, so it's not like I lost the somnabotch.
I did find one of 2 of the other springs busted, so I have new ones ready to go.
And I never noticed any prob before with the gas pedal action/etc.

Does anybody have their intake removed so they can take a peek to see if this axial spring is in there?

if not, I'll just drive on.

Thanks

FWI I have an 80SC and that spring is not present. Actually, the only one I have goes fron the linkage connected to the intake manifold. My setup could be wrong but no issues.

Just went out and looked at my '86. That spring is not there. The other two are.

Thanks Kurt and sailchef.

Cool - that's good enough for me!!

That is the setup I have, 2 springs hooked to the intake runner (underneath).
The one in question doesn't even line up with any shafts or anything on the drawing. It might just be an artifact of an earlier design.

Thanks very much for looking!
