Admit to your stupidity part soixante neuf

When you have invested several hours and countless rags into rebuilding your cv joints and axles and you hear a knocking sound coming from the back on the first test-drive don't go to bed feeling depressed. Just tighten those f*%king lug nuts.

Nothing to see, move on please.

Michel

Yea, it is a good thing to have tight lug nuts.

I lay a cheap torque wrench on the drivers seat anytime I remove the lugs. It just acts as a reminder to torque the lugs. I use a good torque wrench to actually torque the nuts. An old gray haired man taught me that trick. Now I have turned into a old gray haired man.

Oh yeah done the loose lug nuts one. 400 yards felt one of the rears wabble and remembered straight away.

Pulled over and thumped my head saying idiot

'88 924S, first porsche. Washed and detailed, even removed the wheels to thoroughly clean them. That evening, wife and me, first outing together in that car, on the way to dinner. Felt a wobble, got that sick feeling, pulled into a gas station and asked to use their tools. My wife asking "What happened"? Yep all 4 wheels loose.
Now, if lug nuts are off, they are in the torque wrench drawer.

Told this BB in my thread that my engine had no intake manifold gaskets when they were right there, under the shop rags placed over the cylinders! DOH!

+1 This works especially well if you are at the track, and in a hurry to get the wheels back on so you don't miss your run group. It is a life saver.
