Weissach 911sc questions

Hi guys! I'm finally getting around to restoring my Weissach and need to know the interior color code. I know it is Doric Grey with Rust piping, but I need to find out the code itself. I'll need to re-dye the rear seats, door tops, door panels and rear interior panels as they have faded to a pinkish color. I will order the correct skins for the front seats and the dash.

This car is turning out to be a labor of love as I have the car stripped of its bumpers, mirrors, valences, headlights and gas tank in preparation for paint. I'll have all the glass pulled before it goes out for paint and I'll remove the door handles, antenna and spoiler rubber next week. My first time doing this kind of work and it is easier than I thought.

So once again, does anyone know the paint code for Doric Grey and Rust? Thanks!

I don't think they used paint codes per se like an exterior color would.
If you are dyeing it, it's best to send an unfaded swatch to have it matched.

send the seats to Tony at Autobahn and save yourself some grief if you just need to redye clip a 1' square and send it to colorplus they will match it exactly

I was going to pull a swatch from underneath the seat and send it to ColorPlus for a match. I do hope Autos Intl will be able to get me the Doric Grey hides for the front seats and dash, and the rust piping.

I just wanted to throw 2 more cents at you to consider. Not all leather color dye is the same (just like in yarn, fabrics, etc - different dye lots). Since you have elected to send the seats off for re-upholstery, I would suggest you have that place send you a sample from the skins they will be using on YOUR seats, and then use that to get your color matched dye (you might also consider Leatherique). Just a suggestion. Would love to follow the progress of the resto. Please consider posting some pics of it on the SCWDP site as well - there is a section in the Gallery there for Special Edition SC's, and one specifically for the Weissach.

Thanks Shane! I was wondering about the dye match. I've used Leatherique in the past and it was okay. I really want a dye, not a paint.

that is a good idea about getting a sample of the actual leather to be used for a match. I've ued both leatherique and colorplus and I think colorplus has better products IMHO. The colorplus product is water based and easy to apply, it is not a laquer based paint to be sprayed on. The laquers will dry your leather and eventually crack.

I have never used the Colorplus so could very well be a better product. One question for me though is the durability... will the waterbased hold up to daily driving use?

Thanks, Jim. I went to my upholsterer today and his swatches of Porsche leather only has a "beige grey". I also contacted Autos Intl regarding the match.

Too lazy. Just go to Gerards and you'll see it stripped down. I'll get pics next week. Yesterday was a busy day as we shipped out a 911 Speedster to Australia. Had to load it up in a shipping container...

The paint is pretty bad as it was sitting outside for at least 12 years. I did strip the trim, bumpers, mirrors... and have everything put aside.

Looks like a great project. I used colorplus on Jag interior several years back. They make a good product, I'm not sure what would be better. My understanding, could be wrong, is that the water based product matches the factory process for coloring the leather. Part of the resto is getting the old color off using mild abrasive material and acetone if I remember correctly. You'll get down close to the uncolored leather.

The pictures don't look bad at all. Hows the engine? Staying stock or going 3.6? You got to take out the glass and remove the fenders, let me know if you need a hand.

Engine is a fresh rebuild to stock specs, but with headers. New gas tank is already painted. New brakes/shocks are awaiting install. Wheels will be coming off for complete refinishing. The only hard part is the interior resto. :sigh:

Glass guy will come to remove and store the glass before the repaint.

You should go see Scott at "Island Concepts" for a paint match, they sell Sikkens, right next to HIP. Sikkens is great and it smells good.
