Colour differences between paints.

Hi All

If I understand things correctly, Glasurit and Herberts both made paints for Porsche in the late seventies.

But can anyone tell me whether both manufacturers made the same colour paints?

If there was an overlap, were the paints from both manufacturers identical in appearance or were there differences?

Thanks to anyone who can give me the heads up on this.

Manks

The real problem trying to match the paint from the 70's is back then they used lead . In addition they also used Sikkins Paint. My 73 is painted with "Rose Red" color code 024. The only line of paint which even came close was Glasurit. I believe there is a way to determine what Paint co. painted your color.

If you drive south of the border you can buy the "good stuff" which is illegal to sell or spray here. At least you used to be able to get it.

Well I believe that if the colour code is 275 9 3 the digit 3 denotes Herberts paint. 2 would mean Glasurit.

I am just interested as to whether both Glasurit and Herberts made the same colour paints for Porsche or whether some colours came from one manufacturer and other colours from the other.

So for example did both Herberts and Glasurit make 275 green?
