I worked as an installer for about 5yrs, back in the 80's. I was trained that if you installed a piece of glass into a metal seat you needed to provide a sealer, Butyl or Urethane depending on ap. A glass installed into a ruber seal did not need any other sealer, as the RUBER is the seal. This all depends on the condition of the vehicle. If the well was rotted or rusting we would add some urethane to seal the rust, not to sealthe glass. Ruber seal windows are a joy to do, no mess to deal with if you touch the wrong place, no clean up after its in.

I didn't have much spare time so all i could do today was use a razer blade to gently scrape all the old glue off around the edge of the winshield. I wish I had extra funds and could just buy a new windshield-this scraping is quite tedious.

I got the rubber on and used making tape to hold it in place. Then i started inserting the trim. Wow! My fingers felt like they were ready to fall off by the time we finished.
This is the string going in the rubber channel. We wrapped it three times. ![]() Houston we have a new seal in place! ![]() ![]() Timing couldn't be better-15 minutes later a huge thunderstorm started-NO LEAKS YAY! ![]() I totally forgot to insert the antenna lead through the hole in the dash. Now I can't find the hole-must be under the rubber.
