Update on my engine swap

Well gentlemen I have been quite busy since my last post on Dec 5. To update you on my progress. I have several side project active since I have the transmission out and out to the The Shop in Toledo. I decided to update the brakes and suspension. I have bought a heavy duty Sachs Power Clutch so I decided to change the clutch cable and switch to bronze bushings in the pedal box due to the increased load from the new clutch. You will notice from the pictures I ran into some trouble here. The box and all the bushing were shot. The clutch actuator was worn clean through. I have also updated the brakes to 89 carrera spec. I got into this project and found out from Caldwell at PCA that this was pretty much a bolt up operation except I would need a pressure regulator on the rear circuit. This will keep the rear wheels from locking up on high pressure stops due to the larger cylinder size. If you would like to see for yourself follow the link to the pictures http://www.zing.com/search/index.html?StartRow=1&MaxRows=20&Type=Albums&Criteria=my+911+project&x=34&y=7

Looking great!

Are you going to have a completely red interior?

No that is just one of the seats I picked up when I got the engine I plan to have it recovered in a nice respectable dark brown. I have recarro's in the car now, don't like them.

Very nice! I also have a red car, had the seats done in red and black. I really like the way they turned out, rest of the interior is black.

The picture does not show it very well but the color is Peru Red. In the sun it takes on an orangy tint. But in the dark it looks the best it has a dark vieny blood tint to it. THe interior is a chocolate brown. I am going to stay with that or I have been toying with updateing to a black RS interior as I need a new dash. And black is the least expensive and I like the door panels in the rs it gets rid of another trouble spot the dam door pockets that always sag.

Those seats are pretty damn red. Just goes to show how styles have changed since 1978.

The cleanest 911SC I saw when shopping for my car was metallic gold. Not the Champagne or white gold metallic colors from the "Is Gold a rare color?" thread a while back, just metallic gold. The car in direct sunlight was blinding. It also had a gold interior, and gold carpet. The car was in outstanding shape, the paint and interior were both in truly remarkable condition for a 23 year old car.

It looked like something you would see the bad guy driving on a Starsky & Hutch rerun.

I look at that car, and I think of Avocado colored appliances, elephant bell bottom jeans, deep pile shag carpet, and clogs.

All I can say is "What the hell were we thinking?"

I don't know but the guy whose car they came from covered them himself and was very proud of the lobster red even offered me some of the left over material he had used to cover the seats. I must admit that in the white sc with black trim the red seats looked ok. But as the author of used 911 story stated look for a solid car and the color will grow on you.

My next operation is going to be new torrsion bars, bushings, and turbo tie rod ends. My car has been lowered abit to far, but that will be fixed with the next update. I have a question as the car will retain a lower than stock stance which is better rack spacers or bump steer kit. given the almost 200.00 difference in price given both are offered as a solution for bump steer. I am installing 28mm rear 22mm front and 22mm sway bars. Also all urathane bushing and very trick solid motor and trans mounts. What do you guys think am I on the right track?
