To Tint or not to Tint

Hi all

I want to get a feel for what everyone has done (if anything) to tint the back windows. I understand I can tint the front ones (driver and passenger sides) at 15% less light and still be legal.

I have the "stock" tint now. It seems to have a slight blue-ish or green tint. I am mostly worried about the leather shrinking more than it already has, hence UV and color tinting. Secondary interests are looks.

What have others done for tint or not?

TIA

Out here in AZ tinting is not an option--it's a matter of survival. Take a look at the rear window on my Targa--you can't see in or out. I was lucky in that the PO had it done, and done well. My only problem are some scratches on the passenger window where it looks like someone tried to break in at one point...

Tint, but make sure you go with some of the newer metallic (non-dyed) films from companies such as Matico or 3M. They have lifetime guarantees against fading or bubbling.

Nick.

YES - TINT. I live in Colorado where there is little atmosphere to filter the suns UV rays. I have had every car I have ever owned tinted, some dark, some light. BUT - I also have the windshield tinted. While this will no doubt get a rise out of the safety nazis, let me say that the windshield is always done with the lightest tint possible, yet still being able to filter UV. This way my car is NEVER exposed to UV for long unless I roll down the window.

Did I mention that the car temp is MUCH cool in summer than without tint...

My 928 would be a hot box in 130 degrees temps and therefore has 60% on the rear and rear quarter windows as well as 10 inches across the top of the windshield. Now this is weird, but because of the intense sun, we usually apply to the outside, becase it is an annual application. Stuff fades fast! I'd like to put some clear film on the outside of the windshield as it surely helps with preventing chips and scratches. I'd apply it 3 times a year or more if necessary.
