No reverse on my 911. Help!

Hello,

I just recently purchased a 1973 911 with what seems to be an 80 sc 3.0 motor but still not sure what trans but posibly the trans to match the motor and it is as of there is not enough throw to get into where reverse feels like it should be. It is a 5 speed manual trans be the way.

Any ideas?

On my car (915 tranny), reverse is to the right, and down. I believe the 901 tranny is a different configuration.

Well, it would be a 915 transaxle, regardless of whether it is a '73 or an '80 model. And, just in case you don't have an OEM shift knob or owner's manual, here's the shift pattern:

5-speed:

1-3-5
2-4-R

4-speed:

1-3
2-4-R
