What is this?

Can anyone confirm what this is (red arrow).
84 Targa

I think it is oil temp or pressure sensor? The wiring connector seems a bit unusual and wondering why it needs to be so?

oil pressure sensor.
your is unusal because someone modified it after it broke. It should be a push on connector.

The temperature sensor is the one below and to the left of the the one you show.
