Can anyone direct me to floor jack engine cradle or similar posts or threads? I have wresled 911engines in and out for years with wooden blocks, slings, jacks etc. but now want to do it properly. Any input appreciated.

Pelican has one in tools I have not used it but it looks good and I got sent plans for one from Rusnak that goes on an atv lift. If you would like them I will post the pics.

I've always used a high rise (30") low profile jack with no problems.
The next time around I think I want to try using one of the ATV/Motorcycle jacks, they just look a lot more stable.

I made a cart out of 2x6's, plywood and casters. It supports the engine by the thick web where the halves come together.
![]() The center piece lines up under the case, with the gap in the center providing clearance for the sump plate. The side pieces line up under the heat exchangers, but don't provide any support. Just balance, to keep it from falling over. This is how it works: ![]() Tom |

FYI, I got the 'Engine/Trans Jack Adapter' from PP to use for my first engine R&R and used it on many more after that.
It's a great tool and provides a safe solution for us DIY'ers. My only advise is to be sure you have a proper floor jack to accept the larger dowel-pin on the adapter.

Transmission Jack For Engine Rem.
The tool shown ( under my name) allows me (working alone) to easily remove/install a 911 engine/trans. Purchased on eBay ...I can only assume the vendor still sells them there?

Let me know how it works I was going to buy one myself. Maybe sooner than later I have an issue somewhere in the upper end.

EP....
when using a floor jack I have used wood blocks, plywood boards, etc, etc many times Got tired of it and bought one of these....I was skeptical and yes it is pricey but it just plain works....easy to use and balance point is perfect...and it will let you angle the unit for tranny shift rod insertion...so if you take your engines in and out a lot...this is worth it especially if you don't have a lift... http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=PEL-PW-2563&catalog_description=%39%31%31%20Engine%2FTransmiss ion%20Jack%20Adapter%20%28up%20to%20%31%39%38%33%2 9

I use an old supermarket bread trolley, with blocks of wood of I don't have heat exchangers on the motor
![]() it's the same overall dimentions as the engine block high enough so my trolley jack will go under, and I cut a hole in so I can drain oil while it's sat on the trolley (when it's alinged) if I turn it though 90° it'll support the trans aswell it cost me nothing, appart from 5 mins dumpster diving |
