Can someone help with decoding this Engine #

I recently purchased a 1974 911 widebody in florida and had it shipped to Toronto. I have done some research on the engine # 628-2311. It are appears to be a 1975 Carreara 2.7. Could this be an RS Engine given the number starts with 6.

I would be greatful for any help on this...

Miki

All 911 engines from 1969 on begin with a 6 (for 6 cylinder I presume)
1978 930/04 USA 180HP

"6" = 6 cyl engine
"2" = 911 SC (USA)
"8" = 1978
"2311" = consecutive build #
