Engine Install issues
I had to pull my engine to fix some oil leaks (78 SC). I just reinstalled it and now when I start it it revs REAL high, how high I don't know, because once I crank it and it starts it jumps up to 5000 rpm and I think would keep going so I quickly shut it down.
Now while I was in there I removed the air pump and backdated the heat. I also noticed that my decel valve does not nor never did have a hose connected to the top. Any ideas? Thanks Kirk ![]() |

+1, sounds like binding linkage.

Butterfly valve position........
ECK,
Inspect the position of the butterfly valve in the throttle body. It should sit close when engine is not running. In your case, the throttle linkage is some what binding and preventing the butterfly valve to close properly. Tony |

As mentioned check your linkage, then suspect an unconnected vacuum hose resulting in a big leak. Your brake booster hooked up? Thats a massive leak.
