When it rains 911 won't start
My '89 911 Carrera seems to have issues when its wet. Early on it would be difficult to get the car into 1st gear as it would judder around before stalling. One time when I was about to enter into traffic the car stalled. I noticed a freight truck barreling down and was able to get into reverse. Scared the hell out of me! Now it won't fire after it rains. It did start later when I got back from work. Is there some weak spot on the coils or the ignition?

Most likely distributor cap and plug wires (and you'll want to do the rotor while the cap is off). Take a look with the engine running in the dark - maybe spritz some water on the cap - and I bet you'll see the wires arcing.

Less brakes, more gas!

If not sparking and cracks in wires/cap... Take the cap off spray it with silicone spray and wipe it down w/ a fresh paper towel. This will prevent condensate/water from accumulating inside and preventing start.

^ What they said. I've had a few cars (81 RX-7, 93 F-150) that did exactly that because of moisture in the distributor.

+1, what kind of wires do you have? The old Clewetts I used to have that had a high temperature sleeve used to arc like crazy when wet.
