Removing Right Chain Box

I replaced the seals for my left chain box a month ago to rid an upleasant drip. Approximately 2 weeks later, the right right side started to leak. The timing was such that you'd think they were related.

The good news is that I am now experienced in chain case removal and cam timing. The bad news is that there is a large hard oil line in the way of the repair.

Can anyone tell me if this oil line can be moved enough once disconnect from the flexible like to get the cover off? The connection at the case seems impossible to remove without first dropping the exchanger and with all of the exhaust stud horror stories I have read, I am not real interested in doing that.

EDIT: This is an '88 Carrera and the oil line I am referring to is the feed from the lower left side of the crankases that snake over to the right side and meets with a flexible line. I believe this is the tube that is replaced with an older style when headers are installed. It passes directly in front of the right chain case.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Larry

I was thinking it may just be the line that runs from below the oil sending unit (73 onward?) to the head at #4. Or maybe an oil fed tensioner line? But if you've done the other side, both these line would be familiar to you and of little trouble. So, maybe a picture and possibly a model year would stir the experts?

edited with more detail. I am referring to the 1" steel oil line running from the bottom side of case, between #2 & #3 over the the right side of engine and meeting with a flexible oil line It has a holding strap attached to the chain case also.

Thanks for any guidance offered.

It can be removed, however you need to remove the heat exchanger on that side to get to the fitting.
