Cool find in my '85

I pulled my seats to redye them - when I put the passenger seat in full recline, I saw something jammed near the pivot pin. I pulled it out with some needle nose pliers.

1978 50 pfennig coin.

I now have to figure out what to do with it - it needs to stay with the car.

It must have come unglued from it's place under a rear seat cushion. I'd glue it back in if you are concerned about resale value and want the car to be 'correct.'

I found a quarter lodged in the hinge of my seat, preventing me from reclining it. But I dropped it there a while ago. Your story is cooler.

That's cool - I found a mint '74 coin (2 DM IIRC) under the rear seat of my '74 911. Probably dropped in there by a factory worker. Pretty neat to find stuff like that!

(I also found some other less-than-wonderful stuff like a few condoms, fortunately unused in the packages - pretty sure those fell under there post-1974 though).

I found a British 3/8" open/box combination wrench in the bottom of my timing case in my old DB4. As it happens, that is the wrench size you used to adjust the cams when mechanically timing the engine. I sent it back to Aston Martin in the UK, since they were the last ones inside the engine before I bought the car and shipped it to the US. It must have been in there ten years before I pulled the engine.

Amazing! I also found a coin in my SC the night I first drove it home. I keep it in the glove box not for good luck.
It's just a US quarter, not as pretty as this coin is. I'd keep it in the car for sure.

When I picked up my '68 I was a student in Vienna. The little pull compartment in the driver's door was used to capture spare change during the drives across Europe. To this day I keep an Austrian groschen (penny) there to memorialize the car's past. So far, no dings at concours.

cool find! keep it forever with the car.

i found an american quarter from the 70s in my ashtray when i bought my car.
when i probed the 1st owner of the car, who had driven it for over 35years every day, he said this:
(he's always full of tall tales and exploits in his 35 year ownership, he's fab)...

"it has induced me to tell you the whole truth about the ashtray quarter.
As I mentioned, it cost 25 cents to enter the car park at the University of Washington to play squash. Because I didn't always have that particular size of coin in my possession, I developed a habit of "tailgating" someone who had just paid the quarter. (And I might add, it was kind of fun to beat the University out of 25 cents.) One day, I tailgated through only to be greeting by a policeman who was just waiting for some cheapskate to do so. Well, to save 25 cents, it cost me $25 - not a good investment! Thereafter, I always made sure there was 25 cents in the ashtray."

The lady on the back of a 50pf is HOT!

By the way Jaskas, as you may know, that's an aerial practice bomb on your car. The American ones are slightly different by only a little. When used, a spotting charge is placed inside the tube. It's normally a chemical smoke type. When the nose strikes the ground, a puff is released out the tail to show where it landed. In any event, if the tube seems to be blocked by anything, I wouldn't go poking anything in there.

When I got my T from the then owner of 23 years, it had a note in the ashtray from a fellow who had seen the car somewhere and must have left him that on the wiper blade. It said, "I used to own a 71T some years ago and I really miss that car. Please call me if you ever decide to sell it." He also left his name an number. I may call him someday.

I had the glove box door off doing a little clean up before a 3400 mile trip out to CA last fall and found a penny and quarter lodged in the hinge area. I forget what year, but they both went right back where I found them. The car never missed a beat on that long trip BTW.
