What to do with 2.7 motor with stud issues

I recently completed an engine swap for my '75 S. Replacing the 2.7 motor with pulled head studs with a 3.0 SC motor.

What should I do with the original 2.7 motor? What parts are worth salvaging?

Could be quite a few items.... or it could be very few. You'll have to take a look (and maybe post some pictures) so everyone can help you decide. If your not in MI but near CT, I could help "clear out" the garage as well...LOL

Are you local to CA? I might be interested in a spare 2.7 to build up.

I'd look at the fact that the 2.7 will require about $2500 worth of case machining. So look at what a rebuildable 3.0 goes for, and subtract $2500. That makes it worth between $500 and $1000 depending on the buyer - and the buyer pool is going to be smaller than a 3.0 buyer pool, as the number of people that know the joys of a 2.7 are much smaller than those that will just buy a 3.0 because that's what everyone else does.

The crank if it is in good shape is easily $500 or more. Fixing head studs can be a DIY job but it probably is better to have a machinist do it. If your barrels are Nikasil, they are worth around $300 from EBS on a good day. The CIS is hit or miss. maybe $200 here YMMV

if the 3.0 is in good shape, rebuild the 2.7 to 2.8 rs spec and have a track motor or autocross motor. i will be in the same situation soon, except no pulled sttud, i am hoping i can finish my 3.0 without haveing to sell the 2.7.
