We've lost another Pelican...
I hope you'll indulge me a minute. Most of you did not know Brin Hendrix Bailey... She was known here as Lady Brin. Her husband, David Bailey, is also a Pelicanite, known as Beetle Bailiey. They are both really good friends of mine, and they are both great people... the kind you know you can trust with anything in your life.
![]() Brin passed away last Saturday. She lost a battle with a very advanced case of cancer. They never saw it coming. No sign of it all until Brin just woke up paralyzed waist down one day. This happened not too long after this picture was taken: ![]() Brin was one of those people in life that I think everyone remembers the first time they met Brin. I remember thinking, "wow, that woman has got some energy!"... And she was into 911's. She had a Carrera cabriolet, and then decided she needed a track car too. So she bought the car in the picture above from Pat Williams. It was one of his old track cars. She had it painted... red of course... Brin would have no other color. But she also had a softer side. She was Miss Tennessee in 1974: ![]() She and David dated for years, and had recently married. They had been married less than a year at the time of Brin's passing. David is doing better than I think I would be doing, but I know he is hurting. We are getting the MTFR guys together this Saturday, 9/26/09, at 10 am in Jackson, TN. We have a couple of options as to where to meet for brunch, but will keep it open until we know how many plan to attend. We always welcome new guys in the Mid Tennessee area, so if you want to join us, shoot me and email and I will put you on our list for future announcements. Until then, rest in peace Lady Brin... love and strength to you David (Beetle Bailey).

Every time a read story like this it reminds me of how life is so fragile. It's important to enjoy every step of the journey, because none of us know when it is going to end.
She sounded like a great lady. RIP

Remember
Remember me when I am gone away, Gone far away into the silent land; When you can no more hold me by the hand, Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay. Remember me when no more day by day You tell me of our future that you plann'd: Only remember me; you understand It will be late to counsel then or pray. Yet if you should forget me for a while And afterwards remember, do not grieve: For if the darkness and corruption leave A vestige of the thoughts that once I had, Better by far you should forget and smile Than that you should remember and be sad. - Christina Rossetti

Shane, I had thought about posting a tribute but really could not come up with the words. Thank you buddy. David is somewhere on the road south of Eureka Springs/Hot Springs (probably on hwy 7) headed this way. We'll open one for you this evening as we celebrate the life of our friend. Oh the fun we had @ PorschePalooza 3 years ago when we all 1st met.
